Relational Responsibility

What About Relational Responsibility? What does that look like for Rowena and I?

Let's start with the relational aspects of who we are in Christ and the many we have connected with over 30 years, as full-time ministers in New Zealand and Australia.

After all, the Lord does not want His people to be loose cannons, making up their own doctrines and doing whatever they want, making up their own ministry practices?

In 2020, while we were in lockdown because of Covid19, we found a church, where we met John & Alaine McElroy, the founders of Southern Cross Association of Churches. The church used to a Jehovah's Witness Church, a 6-minute walk from our home or 2 minutes if we drove.

11th February 2023, we became members of the SCAC (Southern Cross Association of Churches) https://southerncrossnetwork.org.au/

The heart at Southern Cross Association of Churches is to reflect the healthy biblical community we see in the early church (Acts 2:42–47).

42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

And the Lord added [d]to the church daily those who were being saved.A biblical community is a family of believers and churches who come together with one mind and heart to fulfil the purposes of Jesus Christ."

What membership means:

Apostolic Consultations - Throughout SCAC's network of ministries they can arrange consultations with experienced leaders in various aspects of apostolic ministry. This enables members to receive apostolic and prophetic input, to strenghten ministries and leadership teams.

Both Rowena and I had a wonderful one-on-one dinner in November 2025, with SCAC Director David Kranjec. He had one goal in mind. To strengthen our relationship. An evening we treasure today because of the heart to heart conversations we had.

Official Endorsement and Ordination - The Australian Federal Government has granted Southern Cross recognition as an official religious organisation. This enables the Association to nominate qualified persons for marriage celebrant status. We recognise God’s call to ministry through conducting ordination services for our members.

On 3rd November 2023 Rowena and I were SCAC ordained ministers of religion and I became a marriage celebrant. We have been called to both community and marketplace ministry not just with a church.

Regional Support Groups - Throughout Australia, and in the nations of South Africa, Kenya and Mauritius, SCAC has established support groups where members meet regularly and minister to each other. We conduct regular mission trips to visit and encourage these support groups around the world.

While doing our Big Lap Trip across Australia we will no doubt connect with other SCAC members scattered across Australia.
We will also function in the caravan and camping industry providing opportunities to connect with those whom we can provide help and support.

Leadership Events and Conferences - Southern Cross hosts international conferences featuring cutting-edge speakers who equip the saints through revelatory teaching and spiritual impartation. We host Leadership Advance events in various cities that bring together members in a retreat-type setting.

In February - March 2024 we attended the Leaders Advanced Event at Presence Church in Port Noarlunga, South Australia.
Pastor Paul & Sacha Godrich are the pastors and they have planted over 50 churches across many nations.

What About Church? What does that look like for Rowena and me?

We began our relationship with Ps Gavin and Karen Stuckey of Church Gathering Online in December 2024.

All SCAC members and ordained ministers are aware that we have the option and freedom to connect with other ministries that relate to an Acts 2:42-47 church. Friendships are built upon "relational responsibility", and with our mission to do the Big Lap Trip across Australia with no end date in mind, we asked the Holy Spirit for a strategy that would be online-based.

Why online-based?

My experience in online-based ministry began in 2020 when the world was in lockdown. A friend of mine connected me with a pastor based in Eureka, Missouri. In addition to pastoring his church, Ps Jody runs a Men's Ministry and has a Facebook Group of over 53,000 members called "ManUp God's Way Community." I served with Ps Jody for 2 years, ministering to men from all walks of life, countries and nationalities every day before the Lord moved me on.

I gained more online-based ministry experience when I joined Ps Justin, who is based in Canada. He began his online-based church in 2020, and it has grown significantly. I met Ps Justin through our time together with Ps Jody "ManUp God's Way Community." We have a strong relationship today through their WhatsApp Group.

So it was a no-brainer to find out if there was any online-based minstry across Australia. Who knew Church Gathering Online had been established? Here's a link to their Facebook Page ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/churchgathering.online

What About Our Role as Entrepreneurs? What does accountability look like for Rowena and I?

In 2012 the pastor and leadership of the church we called home, introduced us to Kingdom Investors where we got involved in building businesses to the glory of God. Our businesses have evolved over the years but our learnings begam through connecting with other like-minded and trained entrepreneurs just like us. https://www.kingdominitiatives.au/
